    Paycounter??

    I'm confused..

I noticed for the last few weeks that paycounter is giving me stats of number of hits. etc, to pages without a counter code, also, these same pages no longer exist?

How's a page that goes to a 404, & has no counter code get counted?

I think windows2k uses less code than that counter does.

        SpaceDog -

Shoot an email to our support if you'd really like an answer and include your webmaster ID and the counter ID in question.

There are any number of reasons why a page that doesn't exist anymore could continue to get hits. Proxies that have the page cached would still continue to call the counter code.

When you say it still gets hits are you talking about 1000's of hits, 100's of hits or a few hits?

        Bash -

We use the mimimum amount of code we can use to provide the stats that we offer. If you have some suggestions, we're more than happy to listen to them.

        Heather -

Shoot an email to [email protected] or [email protected] and I'll look into it.

        Thanks,
        KC

But it's also tracking referers? I visited the referers & found the link to my no longer existing pages, & it goes to the 404 that does not have the counter code...

It's no big deal.. Just wondering where the #s were coming from..

all the referrers were tgp's, so I don't think it's a cache.. I could see if maybe google had a cached page, but that's not the case, as that would show up in the referals..

The galleries pages in question were pages that were on ARS' BestSexHost.

Since BestSexHost has been shut down, all pages on their server have been deleted & now go to a 404 page, so I was confused as to why I still get hits counted.

Anyhow, I just deleted them from my site profile
