i just went to your site, you don't even have a portfolio or any samples. why? that's just laziness, not a good sign.

you need to show people what u can do, and network, like posting on her like all the rest of us whores. design is a very competitive biz, you need to be aggressive - if you're good satisfied customers will tell their friends.

show us some sites you've designed. if you don't have any do some - sell them on GFY later at a cheap price. u need a portfolio.

What do you mean, no portfolio. Iknow it's not much but it's a start. And I guess it shows a bit of my capabillities...

ok, the link to your portfolio was "Work" - guess i missed it.

looks like you have decent skills, the sites are a bit bland but professional and in a clean style.

if you're gonna be an adult designer you can't live off paysite designs, u need to do it all, gallery designs, banners, half page and full page ads (HPA,FPA), TGP site designs, various styles of tours, the ones in your portfolio are old school - long tours for reality style video and movie archive sites are big these days, so whip up some of those for your portfolio.

post on GFY and other boards, use your sig space to promote your site, when somebody posts looking for design work to be done, jump on it and reply and get them on ICQ or AIM. Don't just spam the boards, those people suck, contribute something be it nonsense or worthwhile.

As for your portfolio ,
Don't offer free work .

Sign up at some sponsors, Grab some content and make a few galleries , You'll have work to show and probally make a few signups in the process .

Grab some more content and build some BYOTs , and make money off those , put those in your portfolio as well .

Dont do what I did .
Design is a Dying market , not saying its not there anymore , but unless you have mad skills , a good reputation and low ass prices its hard to compete now adays ,

Recurring income is where its at my man .
and many designers over look this , ( I did )

I came in the same way alot of you did , some graphic skill and no idea what to do with it , I came on here and offered free graphics to people , WHo are still probally seeing a few sign ups here and there from those 2 year old galleries .. I wish I was .

Hindsights 20/20 man , If you have graphical skill and want To make good money , aim just as much to make your own cash off your own work as much as you aim to take clients .

Will give you content to build galleries ,
In turn they pay you for sign up or whatever .

You'll need hosting , seems like you have it already so you should be set .

in addition it will give you chance to see if you work converts or not , and let you test to see what needs to be done before you go and offer designs to clients .

I agree!

This kind of design has a different purpose than corporate or non adult promotional sites. I am in a process of learning what will make people join. I guess it's the matter of experience and practice (as everything else)

You still need to change the black pearls add on your portolfio where it reads "Georgeus" to "Gorgeous", clients won't take you seriously if there are spelling mistakes.

Machinegunkelly and the others are correct when they say buy content and build a portfolio up. You should put prices and portfolio in place for all to see when you are ready to start looking for people to hire you.

You are giving a bit too much away visually. A bigger prob is your not working the SEs.
You aren't even in Google.

You have to put down the paint brush and start advertising.

There isn't much money in design anyway these days. Many things are handled in-house
these days so your bulk of customers is going to be one-man-shows. So to start feeding
from them start offering $75.00 entrance pages and then start spammin' the boards and
get your domain in the SEs.

You have a good gfx eye and your obviously into bandwidth optimization so push those

my site has different target audience then my designs. Check out the work I did and see the size of navigation buttons there!

I took a "little" liberty to design my site the way i like it!
My work is what you need to comment not my navigation buttons!
