Ok, So I use AOL 6.0, But lemme ask you a question, does anyone else get <in the title bar line at the top of your MS browser> a dash where it says "-Microsoft Internet Explorer Provided by America Online"?

Anyone? i desparately want to rid myself of that, it's annoying as hell...

adsproul - uninstall internet explorer and reinstall a newer version. That'll fix your problem casued by aohell.

The wife installed 6.0 when it came out and fucked up my computer. I went back to 5.0...I'd prefer not to have AOL at all, but I don't get a vote.

This is possible.
What you have to do is edit the registry. Look for that phrase in the registry and then delete the key.

As warned in the other posts, you do it wrong and your system is shot. So proceed with caution.
