Im a fucking idiot. You porn webmasters are a different breed. I don't know how it is after you have been into it for a while but it is hard as fuck to get started. To get traffic. To get your traffic to convert to leads. I don't even care about money I just wanted a forum. any one have any advice, becos right about now im thinking im not cut out for this line of work.

it's a tough business to make any serious money at...it takes a lot of work (both hard work and smart work) It takes networking and finding others whose strengths balance out your weaknesses adn vice versa.

If this is true... then don't sweat it. Do what you love, or at least what's fun and makes you happy while you spend your time on it and don't worry about the money. If you want a forum or a tgp or whatever... just do it. Make one. Or make a hundred. And start building on it. You're not gonna be an instant overnight success. Shit takes time. And it needs to be worthwhile. Nobody is gonna visit a shitty site. Offer something unique. Or at the very least, put a different spin on something that's already being done a thousand times over.

Why not create something original? there's TONS of forums. how can you compete with GFY? you can't.

also you are obviously new to the biz, so what makes you think you can create a site for other webmasters? learn it for a few years then try again.

if you must stick with the forums, cut it down to 1 topic. you have way too many sub-catorgories.

Alright all good advice so far. You see the only thing is that I'm not new to web design at all I've been doing backend work for quiet some time but I've spent most of my time working for a company doing it so all of our experience was with people who had already put money into advertising their site. I know over night success doesnt exsist I'm not looking for it. I guess I really just want to understand what you have to do to get my foot in the door. I want traffic, i don't want porn traffic. I don't sell porn, i don't make money from advertising. I came here because porn webmasters know more about the internet then almost anyone.

If your not looking for adult webmaster traffic, but mainstream webmasters instead... how about putting up some stuff at say, colleges and stuff that offer classes for html, web design, programming, and shit like that? Grab the newbs who are still in class, and offer them some reason to go to your site.

I'm going to stick to what im good at. programming and backend work.
