My poor server

I got an e-mail yesterday from the hun saying that one of my galleries was approved. I was so stoked ... my first hun listing.

I figured it would be a while before it's listed .. but this morning I get on the comp.. I look over at top, which I always have running on the server

load average: 2.82, 1.60, 1.23

Check the hun .. I've been listed. Son of a bitch... lol

when i was listed on the hun i used 150 gigs of bandwidth.

Yeah I already use 20-30GB a day as it is. expect today to be more like 50GB.

Funny thing is I got a new record for pageviews yesterday on my galleries domain yesterday.. 156,546. I'm almost bummed that todays final number is going to be skewed because I'm sure half of it will be from the un... but I still can't wait to see what it is

You really shouldnt have loads running that high just from an increased amount of traffic to a gallery. Unless they were already near 1 because of the rest of your processes or if you are running cgi/mysql on there that is getting a decent amount of hits. Should have your host take a look at your server and tune it up a bit for you.

It's not bad... that was at it's worst. I'm a former unix admin so I know what I'm doing ;)

Right now they're sitting at about 0.37 so something was going on when it was at 2.82.. I'm not sure what. I've got MySQL running and I've got arrow trader on one site .. it's the only virtual host I have cgi enabled for.

Normally my load is anywhere between 0.10 and 0.80 depending on the time of day and traffic. .. I was just being fececious about the hun's traffic .. kind of the slashdot of TGPs

Edit: oh yeah not to mention I've got postfix running too so it's handling all my mail.
