I need help getting first cellphone

I've been avoiding it for some time but looks like I'll finally have to get one for the Phoenix show if I expect to meet up with anyone.

Can you recommend a good cellular plan that won't charge an arm and a leg? It will be very light useage, I barely ever talk to anyone on the phone but I will need a plan that I can use primarily at the conventions so no roaming charges and I don't need anything fancy but should be decent sound.

I say go with VErizon all the way...I've used pretty much all carriers before and Verizon was by far the best!! Try the America Choice 400 for 39.99 which has 400 anytime and free mobile to mobile, and unlimited nights and weekends...Free roaming and long distance....thats my advice to u...

I hate contracts and those prepaid packages charge 3-4 times per minute what the regular packages charge.

I've got a GoPhone plan now, thru ATT Wireless. Lots of free minutes, free evenings and weekends. No Long Distance charges. AND NO FUCKING CONTRACT!

T Mobile for $39.99 (they do have lower plans) we get 600 anytime minutes, nights from 9 p.m. til 6 a.m. the next morning are free and weekends from Thursday at midnight until Monday morning 6 a.m. are free also. So in essence there is only 4 days from 6 a.m. til 9 p.m. that you're charged minutes for. You get free unlimited mobile to mobile calls so if anyone you know is on t mobile it's free whenever. You also have no roaming at all and no long distance. It's easy to qualify if your credit isn't so great. I had a friend get one with like a $50 deposit. I've used it from Vegas to Miami to Texas to Mississippi to Oklahoma and everywhere in between and the only place i've had some dead issues is in elevators..

yea I have nextel with 300 mintues and its $60 a month, so if you don't use your phone alot don't get nextel. Now if you know alot of people with nextel then thats a different story, thats why I use it.
