Does anyone know this problem with IrfanView / Win XP Pro ?

I have a few thousand image folders to process. I use IrfanView and Win XP Pro along with WSFtp Pro.

I used to use Win 2/k Pro. Now, when I process an image folder, the program creates a "thumbs.db". This did not used to happen with Win 2/k Pro.

The several reasons this is a pain in the ass is that when I use an automatic members script it pulls "thumbs.db" as a thumblail and when clicked starts a download.

Also, some of the "thumbs.db" are 6,000kb in large folders. I don't really need to be uploading these.

The only way I can get rid of them is to open each folder in FTP and delete the "thumbs.db" manually.

Is there another way? I've searched all of the help files for all 3 programs.

I had this problem a long time ago.

I think the solution is to go to Control Panel > Folder Options

On the view tab under Advanced Settings, under files and folders, be sure the box:

'Do not cache thumbnails" is checked.

      Hope this works.

You will have to delete all the existing thumbs.db files, though.
