Is anyone familiar with setting up Windows 2000 Advanced Server as a DNS and web server? I am having trouble with this thing and really need some help with it.

Yes.. you can keep installing/implementing security patches in an attempt to make windows crap secure, cepting you'll need do it like every day or more and the patch doesn't get created till the exploit has been used all over the web and already compromised or fucked up many systems.

If you are having problems seting up the dns sufixes on the server. You problaby dont know much about security issues either. And there are a lot of security issues involved with IIS webservers. If you are seting up webserver on win2k you should use the apache release for windows. It is not as good as for linux but it is bether then IIS. To get a domain to point to your ip you need access to the ns servers zone file. To chenge the reverse dns setings. If you are seting this up at home, as I asume you do since you post here instead of asking your host. Then you have to access your isp to have them chenge the reverse dns of your ip, because they controle the zone files.Originally posted by Defiant
