They are a rather unethical bunch IMHO and they are spammers. They also use telephone harrasment campaigns to try and get people to join up with them.
Trust me, I know from first-hand experince. I use a company called 2CheckOut and they keep calling me and e-mailing me over and over and over again despite my statements that I wasnt intrested and my requests that they leave me alone. Finally, I sued them for sending SPAM (illegal in Indiana) and they went away.
It was all very throughly hashed out in another forum... link to thead follows...

I've had many technical issues with them in the past......however they had a good approval rate for creditcards =)
I visited their offices in Montreal back when I lived there, nice office with many employees (too bad I didn't visit on invitation though, I went because no one was solving my issue heh).
A word of advice though: Never refuse any merchant account. You never know when you'll need them =)Comment

It is your customer?s authorizing bank/Credit Card Company who issues the charge back and bills Paysystems, we then forward that charge over to the merchant ($25). The responsibility of fulfillment lies solely on the merchant to ensure that your customers are settled in a timely manner and or serviced accordingly. We allow you to issue refunds or voids at no cost, our merchants make full use of these cost saving functions from there merchant control center. When your merchants call into our 24 hour live Billing center, we document there disputes and it shows up in the client comments section of your merchant control center 24 hours a day in real time. You can then respond to us and your customer and proceed to handle there enquiry. This is one of the ways to avoid charge backs.
