    overloaded raq4 - what next?

    Hi,

My cobalt raq has become overloaded and can't keep up any longer. Any dedicated hosting suggestions?

If you're trying to run cgi on them, that's the biggest killer there is for those boxes. That and the fact that they really suck ;)

Evan helped me out (phatservers) last week when I was in a crunch and needed a new host. His support was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending him!

I have 2 RAQ4's and they're awesome. They do get overloaded if you're pushing a lot of traffic, during log processing. But you can tune that.

They're only AMD 433mhz cpu's and have a max memory limit of 512MB ram though, so if you're doing heavy cgi or mysql.. you may want to get someone to help you tweak it a bit for that or get another one.

Suggestion: Whoever you decide to go with, email a few of them first. Especially at night or on weekends. Get a feel for what support is like before you're even a customer.
