it's filtered SE, normally average from 1:45 to 1:90 with trials, FPA has close to 100% ctr. So pretty much everyone arriving on promo page checks the paysites.

I believe you need to tweak your promo methods. Don't send the surfer directly to the paysites, but use a custom FPA (if you already dont). It's the best way to maximize your earnings. Fresh traffic helps to get top ratios, but the volume in such cases is much lower. Near any kind of traffic can do well on paysites if you deal with it properly. I'm saying that because some people think only SE,typein or mail traffic can do very well and after these.....chaos. NOT true.

Hustler and Barely Legal brand names at $9.95 for a month can be a powerful tool with tgp traffic. If you can combine good promos with volume you'll make the difference. DoctorDre knows what im talking about.

I agree with you 100%. I stoped sending directly to paysites YEARS ago. I like to send everything through an FPA first. This way all my traffic gets super pre-fitered/qualified first.

I'm confident it will happen or at least wont exceed 1:45. I'm about to add more traffic sources, so overall ratio will go up and the specific performance won't be visible on stats.

I bought a Google Adword for 'Hustler' and some other related words, spent $1800 in clicks and made about $550 from Hustler.

That sucked enough in itself but the real kicker is that they where paying $100 per signup at the time!!!

Can you elaborate on the FPA tactics a bit, not something I've tried before - what do you do with the exits?

You have to be carefull with Google Adwords. It can be very, very tricky. Without looking into this further I'd have to guess that when you bid on Hustler you were also on the page with 10 other people bidding on it too. Especially during a promo.

So what happens is the guy bidding the most is first and probably gets all the sales. The other clicks are just lookie loos seeing if your link is any different and maybe free.

Either way there's so much competition there that it drives the price up and that's what makes it hard to earn a profit.

Just a total guess here so I could be far off..

I bet though that even though u lost money the actual FlyntDigital ratio was pretty good for such targeted traffic. The trick is to try and rank for "Hustler" outside of adwords and get that traffic for free

I agree 100%. Personally I love making custom FPA's. I usually will just take an odd shapped banner or 2 and just arrange them on a page with some good search engine text. You don't need to be a photoshop guru.

Here's an example I placed on our board a few months ago. We no longer have free trials so u can't use this as is, but everyone feel free to update it without the word "free".
