php coders - opening files from a zip file?

ok, i know how to write zips on a server and output them for download easy..

but my client wants to be able to upload gallery content to his server..

i could either let him manually upload each pic/thumb to the server manually.. but id rather let him just upload the content zip and extract them server side for easier use?

is this possible with the gzip library from just command lines or anyone know a nice clean simple way to do this?

you could always just pipe a system() call to do the actual extraction.

i would think if you've MADE zips on the server that this would be no sweat...
