I was just playing around and made up this google tool from their web services.

If this is a work in progress, I have a humble suggestion. Follow MrPheer's instructions right up until the "let go" part, then just continue with the first part until you die.

hey yo...google tweaked their api servers and now this baby is going super fast!

it does some interesting things...like just display title/cache size or title/directory catagory or just url's on a search match.

Thanks AdultNex and Dildozer. AdultNex, doing a Googlerankings.com type script would just mean adding a text box for the url and counting the number where the result is seen...so not a problem. I don't have the time right now, but if you got some programmers icq me and I'll send you the script...otherwise I might try to add it in the next few weeks.

I've just done smth like this...
works smooth, without google APIs, so no limit on querries

cool dude...post it up if you want to...I know, I think scraping google is better than their webservices....really no benefits to using their api's

The reason why I believe a Google API should be used is to be on the "safe side" with Google.

I don't know for sure on the legalities of using a SERP checker with a Google API, but I'm guessing using an API tool is safer than not using one.
