    quick question for php guru

maybe someone here knows the answer:

just installed autolinks 2.1 which is a really neat script in php.

everything works ok, permissions are set properly, only thing wrong is auto-timers are not rotating the content at 15 minute intervals.

however, i can manually rotate the content by clicking a link in the script cpanel.

which makes me think that this is a general config issue with the PHP setup on the server.

    this box is running:

    Apache/1.3.28 (Unix) PHP/4.3.0 FrontPage/5.0.2.2634 prxp_module/1.5.9

anyone have a thought on this?

    thanks!

          thanks you guys,

except it appears that autolinks 2.1 has a built in crontab in the script.

here's the lingo in it's control panel:

          Update Interval
Set the maximum of minutes to wait between updating the tags. The lower this number is, the more real time the site will be, but if it's too high, it will use a lot of processing power.

and it has the default set at a 15 minute update.

i can manually update it by click a link---but the darn thing won't update automatically

well, it's one of my boxes.

and this is a commercial script that uses mySQL and php.

i've just never used php before.

i suspect it's a little setup issue in the PHP config on the server.

i've got a query into webair support on it, but like most things dealing with computers i'll lost half a day screwing around with this

no biggie, i bought a fancy printer the other day at bestbuy.

the manual was half an inch thick, and took me 3 days to get it setup and running.

and i work with computers everyday, and have a fuckin' college degree.

i guess i better go drink a cup of tea.

              thanks again

                for me (using freebsd)

                ssh into your box:

                su root
                <enter password>

                ee /etc/crontab

                0,15,30,45 * * * * root lynx --dump http://my.update.script.php

                save and that's it

that runs my update script every 15 minutes, hope it helps you.
