    rackshack Vs serverMatrix

well yesterday i woke up and decided to get another server at racksahck i already have 2 there.

so i enter my credit card details in and bam i get denied. No biggie I talked to customer service and they dicked me around for 2hrs, I decided to try again tommorrow, well same problemo only now they took 3hrs of my time passing me to one loser to the next. Then simply ignoring me when they have no clue what to do.

so I told them in a nice way to stick there server up there arse and i went on over to server matrix 3 minutes later credit card was approved and everything going great guns.

I have seen past threads concerning servermatrix vs others like rackshack etc

ill report over the next few months my experience with them vs my other hosting companies

so far rackshack has been good for hosting but when ppl cut of helping you and ignore you it tends to make my pussy hurt.

as for comparing them to candid well i wont go there they dont deserve that

Why are you on the phone for 2 to 3 hours over a declined card? Either the card works or it doesn't and maybe the reason why. What else was going on for those hours?

Rackshack is good for cheap un-managed servers. But you get what you pay for. Their bandwidth sucks, compared to better hosting companies. I use them for the sites I have that I don't care alot about. If you want better customer service and better bandwidth, you need to pay for it.

      1.) i tried 2 cards

2.) the cards are fine there is something up on there end

3.) the time was spent trying to solve the problem then passing me around lie a 2 dollah whore

4.) yes they are good for un-managed servers thats why i waited

5.) i am done with waiting.

6.) this problem had a simple solution

7.) i dont give a shit about there support about server issues i can handle that but shit they are a big company they should at least be able to get a already customer with 2 gold cards up and running lol

I'm kinda curious if your using the same card for the the server you have with them right now? I doesn't make sense that a card clears on their system for the server you have now, but not for a new server.

One thing you should understand. If a card gets declined, there isn't much you or the company can do about it. They would either have to bypass their fraud scrubbing or your not putting your card info in correctly. It could be just a problem with the AVS system. I know I have had customers complain because they say they have a good card, but it gets declined at signup. The only thing I can do is by pass the AVS setting I have for these people. Most of them put in a address that don't match. I don't know why people that get declined, think the company can do something about it. It's usually a problem with the AVS or bank. Did they tell you why your cards were declined during all those hours on the phone.

Their ordering system has been problematic for a few weeks now.

Major issues. If you check their support forums...you will see many people have had issues ordering the last 2 weeks.

                integrated,

Make sure your card was not actually charged.

People ordering last week were charged even though they got a denied response.

                Me included!

Thing Im not sure about on Server Matrix is that there is no control panel. Im not a linux guru so not sure how to add domains / emails etc...

I know you can pay an extra $20 or so per month and you cant "rent" a control panel from server matrix... but are there anyother solutions anyone would recommend ? eg free gui's ?

I have servers at both Rackshack and Server Matrix; both have great bandwidth and uptime, unbelievable for the money.

Rackshack as you noted can be a bit hard to deal with if anything out of the ordinary occurs, a result of growing to what is it, 17,000 servers now.

ServerMatrix is a bit smaller and more alert. Be sure to pay the extra $10 for 100Mps.

And don't forget Rackshack is still selling Red Hat Linux, useless in a few months so I would not get a server with them till they start selling Red Hat Enterprise Linux like Server Matrix.

I have had a perfectly good card declined by Rackshack on three separate occasions. Each and every time it has involved a great deal of stuffing around by phone (international) only to ultimately have them acknowledge that the card is indeed valid. On the most recent occasion they required me to fax a copy of my passport and credit card in order to update the expiry date on a card that they'd been charging successfully for two years!

Rackshack's billing system sucks and many of their support staff don't have a clue. That said, I have been very happy with the reliability of my servers and the price is sensational.
