This is why i don't hire college graduates. you think you should get 60 an hour just becuase you have a stupid piece of paper. I am looking for an employee to work with us and that is certainly a starting pay. you can either get working or sit around and dream of the days that you would get 60 an hour while eating your wendys becuase you only have 2.50 to your name

I never got my peice of paper! Maybe because I didn't go to college. But for a programmer, 15$ a hour is really nothing.

you are missing the point, you ever seen that national lampoon movie? where the cousin is holding out for a management position for 3-4 years? If you were worth 40-50-60 an hour you would not be looking for people needing work on message boards

You get what you pay for, its that easy....

If you think you need a php programmer for $15/hour, meaning 150 a day, meaning 600 a week, meaning less than 3000 a month, expect him to be either slow.

But also, on the other hand, a PHP programmer that thinks he can charge $60 or more per hour, should think again. Its unlikely he will be able to find a lot of work, at least not from this industry here.

Thats just my oppinion though. But of course there are PHP Programmers and there are PHP Programmers ;) Seen many many different "types" in the past 2 years.

But still you're not going to find anybody in the lower teens - THAT - knows their shit! I can put money on that, when I first started out with PHP I was making 20/hr - WHEN - I first started 3 yrs ago!

When I was doing PHP and Cold Fustion contract programming I was charging $120 an hour. I know the market is depressed but not $15 an hour, forget that!

On average, how many hours do you charge your clients?

Btw, charging by the hour varies. I work very quickly, and therefore, must charge more than what my competitors do (about $175+/hr on mainstream design work). I'm very honest about what I quote on my clients, and would rather do what I do now instead of lying and saying I worked for 10 hours at $17.50/hr.
