See the trick is to get her a gift certificate or gift card and give it to her on xmas day... that way she can go shopping at the 50% off sales and she'll think she's being sly for getting twice as much stuff, rather than you looking like a cheapskate and suggesting you spend half as much!
(Because no matter HOW you spin it, saying "let's wait until the 50% off sales the day after xmas" sounds like "I'm too cheap to buy it for you full price" to a woman. Trust me. I'm female.)Comment

I've been with her for 6 years, she knows I"m a cheap fuck. She's the same way though, not a bad idea though...
