    lest we forget

from memory - havn't sceen this in type for several years and the last time I heard it was nov 11, last year.

in flander's fields the poppies grow
between the crosses - row on row
    that mark our place
    and in the sky
the larks, still bravely singing, fly
scarce heard amid the guns below

    we are the dead
short days ago we lived, felt dawn saw sunset glow
    loved and were loved,
and now we lie in flanders fields

take up our quarrow with the foe
to YOU, with failing hands we throw
the torch, be yours, and hold it high
if ye break faith with us who die
    we shall not sleep
though poppies grow in flanders fields.
This dog, is dog, a dog, good dog, way dog, to dog, keep dog, an dog, idiot dog, busy dog, for dog, 20 dog, seconds dog!

Now read without the word dog.

    Thanks, Sleazy....

I took my moment this morning.

They've been playing this crazy commercial on TV by Bell over the past few weeks. Starts with a guy, early 20s, backpacking thru France...you see all these flashes of places he's visiting. Next scene....he's on his cell and calls his grandfather. His grandfather asks if he's enjoying Paris...and his response is, "No. I'm in Dieppe, Grandpa" and he thanks him. Freakin thing brings a tear to my every damn time I see it.

I had postyed this last night in another thread, but well worth another run given the gravity of what Rememberance Day is all about........

        They shall grow not old,
        As we that are left grow old;
        Age shall not weary them,
        Nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun,
        And in the morning
        We will remember them.

"Those who expect to reap the blessings of freedom, must, like men, undergo the fatigue of supporting it." -- Thomas Paine

May they rest in peace as they shall not be forgotten.

It's the thought that counts my friend, if you are already thinking about it, the silence is simply a token..

              Amen to that .

We sit at our boxes , flaming everyone and bitching about everything . It is well that we remember sometimes the terrible price that was paid to buy us the right to do so .

              God grant them peace.
