    Wisdom Teeth getting pulled

the dentist wants me to have my wisdom teeth(impacted) pulled.
Iv never had any pain or trouble with them,so im not sure if i should have it done.
would you get your wisdom teeth pulled if they dont bother you??
i just dont want to go through the pain and trouble.
Appointments in a few days,so i need to decide.

Better to get them pulled out before they start causing you problems and then you have to wait in pain before the dentist can schedule you in to get them removed.

I got 9 teeth out at once the other week. Getting the rest of the tops ones out soon. False all the way...

        pros:
4 less teeth to get cavities in
more space in back of mouth

        cons:
        4 teeth closer to toothless

not sure. Im kinda in the same situation I think. I havent been to the dentist in pretty long and am in my upper 20s and never had wisdom teeth out. As far as I know I either dont have them or they are impacted. Im in no pain, but I bet the dentist would say to do it.

Better to get them all done ahead of time and all at once. It hurts like hell for about 24 hours.

              Good luck.

Personally, I wouldn't get them removed unless they were hurting or making my teeth crooked.

I think dentists are as big as crooks as snake oil sales men.

I pulled my last 2 wisdom teeths a few hours ago. Both of them had cavities. It's better to take them out now, because they always cause problems and besides they are not useful at all when you eat.

Better do it now than later

Better to get them removed than to have them damage your back molars. When my wisdom teeth started to come in my dentist told me they were impacted and should have them out. They weren't hurting me so I ignored him. This coincided with the beginning of a four year period when I stopped visiting a dentist. During the next four years my bottom wisdom teeth started to grow in under my rear molars. Eventually one of my rear molars crumbled and I broke down and got my wisdom teeth pulled and the tooth rebuilt.

Pull them when you absolutely need to. If they are ok now, let them be. Pulling teeth is so painful.

I got all 4 of mine out a few months ago. No pain at all during the procedure... then you get hopped up on the drugs afterwards so you are feeling good for like a week.

Only shitty thing is that its kinda hard to eat while your jaw is swollen. But hey, I got to look at my x-rays and I could see clearly that my wisdom teeth were coming in and pushing on the root of the tooth in front. Didn't hurt me at the time, but I didn't want to wait til it did.

Pull them when you can afford to, and take your meds afterwards, you will love yourself down the road for having dealt with it now.

I had 4 impacted ones removed (hammered, splintered & chisled) at once and the aftermath sucked. I oozed blood for days, and my lower jaw swelled like Don Corleone's for weeks. It was a miserable experience. Fortunately I didn't get dry pockets.

Some people walk out and have a hamburger. Everyone's experience is different.

I thought the same way as you "why get them pulled if they don't hurt" well.. 3 years later I am in mutherfuckign pain! My ear, sinus, jaw, two rows of teeth and neck are throbbing and most likely infected due to one wisdome tooth I should have had pulled. I am stuck taking antibiotics big enough to choke a fucking horse.

Pay the extra cash for an oral surgeon and IV sedation. You can not imagine the difference in pain and suffering between the two. When you are under, they break the teeth slowly and pull them out piece by piece. Compare this to a dentist using a tool to wrench the tooh right out of your jaw in about 30 seconds. It's awful. I had 3 wisdom teeth removed via IV sedation, but left the fourth on the advice of both my dentist and oral surgeon. Less than 1 year later I had the fourth taken out so that I could wear braces. I thought, "Heck i'll just let the dentist pull it - the first 3 were easy." That one tooth hurt me more than all of the other 3 combined multiplied by a factor of 10. No joke. $250 for IV sedation and $250 per tooth is what it costs where I live. Oh yeah, they give you antibiotic and and anti-swelling agent in an IV at the surgeons. You get neither at the dentist's office - just nitrous and novocaine.

I work as a dentist on weekdays; I recommend having them removed, the older you get, the more traumatic it will become for you to do it then -- and as someone suggested, best to get them out with an oral surgeon with IV sedation -- it will be a more comfortable experience, and the procedure will last less than 15 minutes.

Ohhhhh shitttttttt!! I didnt know that a regular dentist could do it. I thought it HAD to be a oral surgeon. I had a oral surgeon with the IV and all. Its the ONLY way to go!! Fu#$ that other way, it sounds like a miserable way to go!!

the dentist wants me to have my wisdom teeth(impacted) pulled.
I had all 4 of mine taken out a few months ago, they were impacted like yours.

Get a good surgeon and do it under general is my advice

I had no post-op problems with the teeth themselves, although it's weird having a head that's near-numb for a few days.

                                                        Good luck mate
