    Digital CamCorder Help

I'm looking to buy a good digital camcorder that I can record shit with and put it on my computer. I'm not going to be making porn or anything with it so i'm not looking to spend a grand on one. I'd like to spend no more than 300 dollars on a camcorder. If anyone can give me their 2 cents on a good one to get that they've had experience with or know about I would appreciate it. I'm only asking here because i'm sure lots of you have had plenty of experience with camcorders. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Canon XL-1S. Get all the toys for it while you are at it. It is gonna push your $300 budget a bit but you'll thank me later.

Yeah, push my budget by adding another 0 to the end LOL. I'm not making porn so I don't want some SUPER EXPENSIVE camcorder. I'm going to be using the camcorder for recording things me & my friends do around town and stuff. That's why I don't want to spend a ton of money on something that I could possibly break.

          Why digital then?

If it is soley for personal use, go with a cheap hi-8 camcorder most are 250.00 or less. Pick one up with an s-video output if at all possible (ussually a few bucks more than standard RCA jacks).

Pick up a capture card that supports s-video and or RCA. 30.00 and up.

And a s-video cable if you go that route.

Svideo will provide better quality than RCA. Only real reason to go svideo.

Thanks for the advice, I didn't know hi-8 camcorders could have the video recorded put on computers as well. I'll check some hi-8 camcorders out and see what I can find.
