What do you think is the 'ideal' placement of ads on a message board?

Ideally we would like to have a single 468x60 banner and upto 4 smaller buttons of either 120x60 or 2 buttons of 240x60 in size.

Banner will obviously go at the top of the board but what about the other buttons? Should they be placed towards the top of the forum pages or, at the footer of the forum for most impact?

The top one is the only one that gets seen... and the bottom ones are worthless...

Ideally if there were a way to re-pro-gram some small buttons in between every 10 threads (or 20 etc) on the main thread page would be best... Shouldn't be that tough to recode the board program to do that. Oh wait... its the weekend!! Forget I said that!

A few at the top and say two sections co-de-d... leave the bottom to the sundry other things.
