    DVD ripping tips/tutorials......

Ok, I have several DVD porn movies that we need to rip to avi, so we can encode them to stream online. I think so at least.........

What is the fastest, most efficient way to do this? My guys are able to do it, but it seems like a long and tedious process. Has to be a better way, or some software to speed things up.

I do not touch the sites, I own the company. Simply trying to do some research.

We have people who know html very well, if you had a problem with a FPA, please let me know.

How long is it taking you to go from DVD to AVI now?

With a good DVD drive and a decent processor should take about 3 HRs plus to get it into AVI.

                                1. Get a capture card.
                                2. Hook the DVD player up to the capture card.
                                3. Use the software that came with the capture card to capture the DVD to avi.
                                4. Convert the AVI into the formats you need wmv, rm, mov whatever.

Have one of your guys hit me up if they need any more help. ICQ in profile.

That doesn't sound to far off.

upgrading your DVD rom will help with ripping and obviously a faster CPU.

www.doom9.org is a good resource in addition to the ones already listed.

As for speed, we go through thousands and thousands of DVD rips. It can depend greatly on what codec you are using and the settings. With some settings on older computers you can be under 10 frames a second. Some machines here will run over 70fps. Running two passes that is a little faster than real time.

We generally extract the VOBs with DVD Decryptor, then make a .d2v project file with dvd2avi. The process after that can vary quite a bit. The no frills process after that is the standard Gordian Knot fare.

For intermediate encodes we still use gordian knot to make the AVISynth script and the open that in virtual dub to add filters.

These steps are only going to work if you are making an avi file.

This isn't the bible, just the way we usually do it around here (with a few extra tricks up our sleeves ;) ).

Google for DVD Decrypter or SmartRipper

Build a box for DVD ripping that has a crazy bus speed (you can hook up an overclocked box 3.0+ghz @ 1000mhz FSB now) run the fastest drives and controllers (DVD & HD's) you can get your hands on.

                                                            Its very easy to do.
get a copy of dvd decryptor. (freeware)

Rip the movie to your hard drive.

                                                            get a copy of Flask(freeware)

convert the ripped files to avi using Flask. (takes about an hour with a decent PC. Flask will cut the movie into small clips if you wish. Make sure you have a copy of divx 5 for a good quality avi and use it in Flask.

Convert the avi's to mpeg/wmv/whatever with possibly OSS Media converter Pro.

                                                            Job done.

                                                            Cheers
