    Programmers - Quote small job

I want a quote for the following:

I need a portal script that maintains links in categories and allows sub-categories.
All information must be stored in text files as I do not want to use MySQL with this.

Must be able to have an unlimited number of links and categories.

    Simple web admin:
    to add/delete/edit - categories, listings.

Listings must be able to be listed as:

    Title
    Description
    URL

    or just

Title which would act as URL link.

For more info or to talk about this please contact me office-AT-eadultbiz.co.uk or ICQ me.

You can probably find the script at www.hotscripts.com its not a very uncommon thing that you would need to pay anyone

Check out hotscripts, there are a couple of open source link scripts there that are very powerfull and would cost thousands of dollars to reproduce

I would recomend hotscripts.com for this script as well, however I would disagree that its very uncommon to pay someone for coding.

If you are trying to do something new (not a link directory) going custom is the only way to go

What is the problem with MySQL ? It is much faster and take less resources than flat file system (if coded correctly that is)

Because you are not comfortable with mysql? Or is there another reason?....

If there is another reason for wanting flat text file databases, maybe you should look at running one of the existing mysql + php based link managers and then having someone quote you to write a simple custom database -> flatfile exporter in whatever format you want that file to be.

It would be a lot easier of a job for the programmer (cheaper for you) plus you would get the added bonus of having your link list able to handle much more traffic and scale easily.

AND.. using the example of phplinks... it may still have improvements to it that do not cost you any additional money & wont effect your exporter providing the db hasn't changed much.

flat txt files ok but mysql is mutch better solution (like goBigtime sad)

(because of file locking I recommend unix (linux/freebsd etc) - they allow use of semaphores)

if you want it custom build get a programmer and pay him about 250$ (some post production script tweaking included)

(I have something else to do but you can contact me -> anothers at interia.pl - yes pl is a domain for pluto )
