Over the past three years, a company I'm working for has built up three great sites, adding exclusive content every two weeks and doing brilliant design work. But they've totally neglected the marketing side. The sites convert amazingly well (1:35 on average) but they hardly get any traffic, so they don't make much money.
I've been hired to find them traffic. I've set up an affiliate program (50% through CCBill) and given them links and exit consoles from all my sites, but I'm looking for other ideas. I hope it's not too cheeky to ask you guys to help me out.
They won't allow exit consoles or links on the sites, so I can't trade traffic or exchange banners, which is how I've always generated traffic in the past. And their pages aren't very search engine-friendly. They won't give away many of their exclusive pics for TGP sites either.
Is it possible to simply buy traffic, and is that a good idea? What's the going rate? (They are gay site, so it has to be gay traffic!)
I know some of the big affiliate portals, like AVS, promote sites that they don't own. Does anyone know how that works or have any contacts?
