    Hosting question

I have two more questions and these are about hosting. A friend of mine was curious as to these things.

    1. What is the going rate for per gig charges?

    2. How much bandwidth do the webmasters that are submitting galleries burn for just those accounts that they use to submit with?

He is trying to decide what to purchase and since I haven't messed with that in a while thought I would ask your opinions on it.

You can check out our virtual packages at www.realitychecknetwork.com/virtual.html

As for how much bandwidth you will burn, depends on where you submit, how large your galleries are, and where you get accepted. So if he just starting out 50-75-150 gigs should be enough to get a feel for things. Btw you can switch between our plans at any time without any extra charges

    Take Luck!

      1) There isn't really a "going rate". There are so many variables involved, it would be silly for me to make up some number just to sound cool. Variables include: volume, providers, overall company structure, etc. Price shouldn't be your friends main concern though, speed and reliability are what will help him/her keep their partner accounts. A cheap host may go up and down, TGPs do NOT like that and will have no problem canning the account.

      2) Again, too many variables. Gallery size, gallery type, size of pics, and overall traffic are just a couple variables involved. Movie and pic galleries push completely different numbers.

If your friend is planning on doing galleries, I would suggest that he/she pick up a "gallery server". It's basically just a server that you're using mainly for galleries. Doesn't need to process many scripts or databases, something fairly simple. I can hook your friend up with a server for a good price. Another option would be a shared hosting account. I don't recommend virtual hosting, bandwidth is usually a little more expensive with virtual hosting. Your friend will burn through it easily.

You can check out our Virtual packages at Wizzhosting.com

        1. There is no such thing as '' a going on price per gig '' its different with each hosting company. Some are exspensive and some are higher.

        2. It depends on where you submit & how much. For example: If you submit to The Hun you need a lot of more BW then when you submit to 10 small TGPS

Hope it helped your friend a bit. Thanks, Reak

Do you require a long term commitment for the Krypton package?

I've seen TGP's pull from 50-400GB/month. It all depends on the gallery and where they are submitted. Bandwidth is always cheaper (under $1/GB) when pre-purchased. Overages generally run $1-3/GB.
