Who's Using The Linux "Lindows" OS?

Just saw this. Looks cool. How's the stability, compatibility, browsing etc compared to XP?

It looks like a knockoff of Windows completely though. Has Microsoft bitched about it yet?

Better to just go with linux + x-windows environment, like gnome or kde, more stable, more software.

Lindows has a ton of software, but it is all really really low quality compared to anything you can get for Linux or Windows.

I havent actually used Lindows, but I think it would be good for an entry level Linux OS for people migrating from Windows untill you get comfortable with the basics of Linux. Once you get the hang of Linux you'd propably want to get a more powerful distro such as Gentoo or Debian.

Other good Linux distros for the beginner are SuSe and Mandrake

Knoppix Is also a great distro for people who just want to check out what Linux is all about without needing to install it, it runs off a bootable CD so all you need to do is download the ISO burn it on a CD, reboot and you're using Linux.

          Yeah, they have.

And Microsoft has lost so far. They failed to get an injunction against Lindows.

          Jury trial in december.

I have and use a Lindows machine...

            LOVE it

only one thing I'm learning to mess with is a more full install of wine and or VMware...

I can setup from a formatted disk, a webmastering box with graphics tools, ftp, etc in about 1 hour flat...

hell it already comes preloaded with a bunch of shit and the install is cake...

it has room for improvement, sure...but as far as ease of installation compared to any other *nixy desktop environment, this one takes the cake...

ps, you don't REALLY need to buy into their 'click & run' software library as their system is really just Debian linux spiced up a bit...

so many 'apt-get' installs work fine (much like freebsd's ports install packages if you're familiar with those)
