New Program?

Hi.

I am working on a new webmaster program, please tell me what you think of this. If it's a crap idea let me know.

An email program that pays 35c per signup. The reason for the low payout is that ASWELL as getting payed for the emails you can login to my site and email the list you collected once a week. You would be rewarded for certain things, for example when you reach 1000 signups i let you email the entire list i have.

Any ideas would be brilliant.

Imagine I sign up under Joe, another person gets a 1000 emails and now 2 ppl have my emailaddy. Soon every freakin' body will have mine. IF you ever get that many addresses that is of course. I would hate it, I would get even more spam, for having subscribed to 1 person on your list, many many webmasters get my info??

I think you wouldn't have control of the list. Liam would keep that. you'd just have its use. so many many webmasters wouldn't have it.

I should explain more.
You do not get to view yourlist, and when i reward you you get to send 1 email to the whole list, or perhaps to 10,000 emails. I currently have about 4,000 in total.

The price of 35c is not SET it could be more, it could be less. Does anybody here have alot of experience with email marketing?

Oh, and can anyone think of a name for this?

1) 35cents per signup.
2) Bleeding your list to every other program known to man in 1000 (or 10000) increments
3) Your email subscriber base would dwindle faster than you could replentish it because i know that i and many other people would abuse the hell out of your system.
4) If i can get a surfer to give up their email AND I want to send emails, why would i send it into your program instead of buyin g a 50dollar version of subscribeme and just doing it myself where *I* control how frequently the surfer is contacted?

The problem is largely in that you want to let other people email the list. That is what makes your idea original.. it is also what makes it bad.

But then again... what would i know?

Liam have you considered everything with this idea. I posted a thread close to this a couple days ago but what I was offering was a bit diffrent. First thing is do you have your own mail server? That is going to be important sending out 10k e-mails is a lot of work. Does your script deal with timeouts? if you havent tried to send large batch e-mails you might find that things dont work as well as you might expect. ( i had to rewrite my script 6 times before I found a method that worked). The program I was offering let the user download their list and use their own bulk mailer to send the e-mails or use the free version of my bulk mailer. I would get traffic to a banner filled free site. Just some things to think about

Not a bad idea IF you control it right. Be careful taking names from people tho. It's pretty easy to be cheated.
