Link Popularity ...

I have some quaestions on the subject:
1. Does a (img, Text) linked to www.myurl.com counts in link popularity or not !

I mean in some cases seems to count and in others NOT!
Which are the rules for a link to be counted as popularity?

I have lots of links back (860 on the next update on google) but if I type "link:www.myurl.com" it only say 11. What's with this?

I also checked on "link:www.thehun.net" and one of the first links is a gallery for the hun with a image recip to thehun. So once again I don't understand why is not the same for me too .... ??

search engines aren stupid and will try and get around all your doorway pages, is it linked into from the same domain? that could be your problem. 840 links in from one place isnt normal and the search engine will probably see it.

They change the algorithms all the time... best strategy is to think of what *really* makes your site "popular" -- do that -- then the system will work toward you and you won't have to work toward the system... simulated popularity will never supersede real popularity.

Out of the 860 linkbacks you've got..only 11 show up on google because only 11 out of those 860 sites are listed on google..
Same goes for all the other SE's..
