customizing Caller ID

I was told by someone that you can have your Caller ID
to say whatever in the name part.

Heard people having

"You know who this is"
"Pick up the phone"
"Its your momma"

anyone got any experience with this?

Yeah, there are certain models of Caller IDs that you can do that, it'll recognize the number and give a set message that you make when the call comes in.

Is that what you mean ??

I also know that my local phone company has a feature that when someone calls from out of area, they'll be specified to say who they are and you can listen to who it is before you answer.

Well this stuff dont work anymore, they all use the same nortel and lucent stuff in these days that passes ani direct from a DB vs. thru lines.

You can get the software and if the guy you called has call waiting in many models you can make it say what ya want but thats once he picked the call up.

No thats not what i am talking about, that's like cell phones address book,

I was speaking more of having a unique name if you call a new person up it'll read it in their caller ID

A friend of mine wanted his to say "The Dude" so he called the phone company and asked how to do it. They told him he had to register a business line from a company named "The Dude."

The fucker has watched The Big Lebowski one time too many times.

Only thing really i seen is people use
Intials, your just use the last name,

never like phrases or nicknames

Read up on ANI spoofing first. If you can chance your ani or even IF your telephone has a spoofable ani then you can spoof caller id. ... this is something im actaully good at
