    Citing written content

I am a scientist, so as far as my world goes - as long as you give proper reference in YOUR publication to anything that you did not write, it is ethically and morally acceptable to place it in there.

So how about on the internet? If I wanted to run an information site which would pull a large number of articles off sites and serve them from my server (With proper referencing written before the article - i.e. this article written and courtesy of "John's Place"). This would improve my Search Engine ranking, and keep LOTS of content on my site.

I'm sure this is done all the time anyways (Perhaps without referencing), but I was curious about what people feel about it.

It you have really used fair use for citation before, then you probably already know that you can use limited excerpts, but that reprinting entire articles goes beyond fair use.
