Does anyone know about 'Safe Lists'?

I've heard that 'safe-lists' are groups of recipients who will accept unsolicted email - is that right? Do you know how they work? Or of the biggest one?

Is there any other way to reach large groups via email without spamming? I'm looking for people who travel.

    Thanks!

Every time I hear about selling "safe-lists" it occurs that someone is just trying to sell a yahoo groups subscribers list (or something similar). Looks like selling a Brooklyn bridge to unaware passers-by.

There is no such thing as safe-list for unsolisited e-mail. Safe-list means a list which some users willingly subscribed to and agreed to receive e-mails with relevant content. If you send them e-mails with irrelevant content, you are still spamming, and can get into troubles.

BTW, if someone can sell me a list of real working adult webmasters e-mails, I will be happy, despite the fact it's safe or not
