In Win2k I noticed a huge difference when I upgraded from 128 to 256 and then to 512. Now I have a gig of RAM and I feel like a queen

It'd definitely be wortht he money. Get it at www.crucial.com too, they have quality RAM for (relatively) cheap.

Probably won't make much difference unless you are in the habit of running huge programs that use alot of overhead.

I think that it makes some difference. I recently popped in an extra 256-megs in my system and I don't know if it was in my head or not, but it seemed to be better. I play games and have some big programs though, so that could be why.

Hell, I got 256-megs from Crucial.com with shipping for only $28. How can you beat that ? For that much, it's worth the addition.

yea you would notice a difference
anything past 512 is just a waste
the more you put it the more windows will use it and you won't notice a difference

                I'd like to add that's if you're using a 9.x operating system (win98, win 95, ect)
since each application requires 4 gigs virtual memory, when it finds RAM it'll just suck it up to make up for the four gigs.

However, if you're using a true 32-bit operating system like win 2000 you'll notice improvments in performance even if you go above 512mb of RAM.
