    Photo Batch editing help

I have a bunch of mainstream photos that I would like to be optimized and batch edited. Any idea on the best program to use for this job. I am currently using photoshop but I am unsure of how to use the batch edit modes or if it will even be the correct tool for the job.

At the moment I am editing each one individually. If this is the only way to go I may even be interested in outsourcing the work.

Thanks inadvance for the comments and suggestions to make this easier.

      BV,

I can tell this is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks very much.

I have another dumb question for you. Where or how do I record a task?

Oh my god! Ok, shoot me the images, and a check, and I'll do them for you.

recording actions should be second nature to you by now.

depends on exactly what you want done to them, optimized and batch edited could mean a hundred different things.

be more specific in exactly what you need. Do you want them at certain diminsions, under a certain file size, colors adjusted, thumb pages created? Specifics man... I need specifics before I give a price.

You can do some things batching but image optimization in general has to be done manually and it can be very time consuming if hundreds or thousands are involved. The only thing you can do is figure out in advance how far you want to go with it (the quality), ie how many minutes per pic and what can be acomplished in that time. You can spend anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 minutes on each one, if you have thousands to do and dont budget your time in advance you will be a long time finishing.

You are completely right, but still a lot can be done with batch processing if one have no time to manually adjust each image. If all the photos look in the same gamut, you can successfully save a color adjustment curve to apply to all of them, then a balanced sharpen, resizing and saving options... and there's more
But if quality is the key, outsourcing is the answer

Use Adobe ImageReady and make an action then convert it into a droplet. Then you can just drag all the images you want onto it and BAAMM BOOM, DONE! Simple. Lot quicker than doing a batch in Photoshop.
