    Question on selling e-mails...

So just for the hell of it, I made an e-mail address and signed up under a popular e-mail program, but never confirmed. This e-mail was never used anywhere else. Infact, I specifically opted out in the confirmation message. Two days later, spaaaaaaaammmm fills the inbox. So I tried it again, same thing. And then again with two different sponsors.

So someone's (heh, at least 3 major sponsors are) making money off e-mails that affiliates aren't. Who do they sell to and why aren't affiliates paid?

Shit man your getting paid $1-$2 per email

they'd all be out of business if they don't maximize there traffic,

Hell i even seen where in the confirmation email they fill it with tons of other links and way down in the bottom they ask you to confirm your email

I hear what you are saying, but on the other hand they are obviously doing well enough that they CAN pay $1-$2 without problems, there is no real danger, or they wouldn't be doing it.

there is one 4free program out there that does not reallly let you opt out. They put your on multiple lists that acutally belong to them. Not hard to figure who it is if you look up the whois on the from addresses

Dude think about it.. do you know how easy it is to write a script that will submit millions of "fake" email address to a sponsor.. if they didnt make it a requirement for it to be confirmed.. people would signup using tons of BS email address and get paid....

No kidding it's correct, but it is completely off topic. I'm not talking about the opt in process, I'm talking about how sponsors make a profit off of EVERY single legit e-mail put in there that is never confirmed.

I do understand his point, but it's irrelevant in the long run -- I'm not saying a payment is necessary on every e-mail submitted, obviously there'd be a ton of fraud. I don't think it's right for programs e-mails that aren't even opt in.

Actually, there is some truth to that. I know (outside of the interweb) a guy that was pusing almost $5k a day, and had his account closed within a week, with the program owner calling him saying he was going to put them out of business. But kudos to the program --- they actually paid him.
