If you're looking for something to convert the MP3s to Wave, you should try "MP3 To Wave" - http://www.mp3towave.com They charge $14.95 to purchase it, but when I got it anyways, they gave me 30 or so FREE converts to try it out.

Sure, people will say that there's many other free converters out there, I've tried a few of them and they all pretty much were confusing or they sucked.

THIS program is the EASIEST program that I've seen for converting. All that you have to do it go into Windows Explorer, find the file, right click on it and select convert and it'll convert it over and pop it into a converted file for you, it's great !! Save yourself the headaches and give this a whirl.

        See ya,
        Slick

I use WinAmp v.1.7 to convert my mp3's to wav! All you do is click on option/preffences and choose "Wav output silent" and it will ask to create a dir on your harddrive to wear you wanna save the wav files! Then from there on you can put the songs on the cd!

There was an easier way to convert my Napster songs to RealJukeBox...

I went to FILE, IMPORT WIZZARD (in RealJukeBox) and it copied all 200 songs from Napster to my RealJukeBox in under a minute!!! And the sound quality is AWESOME! Now, if I had a CD Burner, I'd throw in a CD and click MAKE CD in RealJukeBox and choose the songs I want...and WALL-AHH!!!

              Geez, that was easy!!

There aren't many cd burners on the market these days that don't come with the software needed to convery mp3 to .wav format for recording. You probably won't need to install anything except the software that comes with your burner. I didn't.

I recommend an hp cd-writer 8200 series if you buy an external. Internal cd-r drives are much faster though.

hp's writer's are good, they have been in the business for a long time, with my old 486/66 I had an external cd reader drive that read at an amzing 2x. It cost an arm and a leg.
but today I have the hp8100 series, internal and here I sit with one leg and one arm, burning cd's. bad joke, sorry all.

I posted on my other thread "REFORMATING", that I am going to check out H.P.'s Burners this weekend, internal ones. And ask around for installation however, I called GATEWAY computers and they told me how to install it, but I am nervous!! My computer is my baby!!! lol Its like someone telling me to perform surgery on my own child, you know?? LOL

THANKS GUYS FOR THE HELP! You ROCK!

Is anyone else having troubles D/L'ing from NAPSTER lately?? My download rate drops HARD anymore. From like 6.31 the whole way to do .54 or something like that....

By the way, Napster is going to charge $2.95 -> $9.95 (not sure if that is per year or month). This will take effect in July IF 5 record company's settle with Napster..thats still pending....

I follow this napster stuff pretty close, I bought a 40 gig HD to FILL with mp3's when I first heard all this legal BS. So far i've filled about 25 gig's of that. I love my mp3's i bought a MpMan when they FIRST came out, now i've got a 6 gig JukeBox i can take where ever i go!

Napster is going to charge you $30/month for unlimited downloads. They got to pay the $1 billion some how

BTW, my Napster ID is o0ACID0o If you want to check out what i have online.

With legal victory against Napster Inc. (www.napster.com) all but assured, the record industry quietly has begun to move against hundreds of Napster clones that also offer free music downloading via the Internet. Since Monday, the Recording Industry Association of America, the main trade group representing record labels, has sent about 60 legal notices to the Internet-service companies that provide Web connections for "Open Napster" servers. These are computers that run Napster-like software, but aren't

BabaGirl, try gnutella, or gnotella, both are MP3 peer-to-peer servers. They don't connect to as many people, but I've never had a problem looking for my "weirdo" music, Primus. (yes, I know Primus sucks.)

Also the one important thing that no one has mentioned, (mostly because people think it's common knoweledge) is that you abso-fucking-lutely must burn to CD-R not CD-RW.

I know I must be stupid for even trying. Trust me it doesn't work, and you pull all your hair out trying to figure out what went wrong. CD players just don't read CD-RW.

yeah i thought it was common knowledge that CD-RW cd's can only be read by other CD-RW drives.. guess not

Honestly though $30 isn't that much.. one CD costs about that much, where as $30/month i can get pretty much every CD i want.

Also if the record labels go along with the "Pay Napster" model, they will obviously have their own servers on the service hosting their own "secure" mp3 files. Meaning once they are on your computer, they are no good on any other. So it's not like there will be a loss of content to download.

I for one am more than willing to spend $360/year for every ablum i ever wanted!

I fortunatly don't pay that much for a cd. where I'm at new cds run about $10 to $15.
I think that napster by offering a price for unlimited DL's for $30 is par for there location and still a good deal, but I'm a cheap bastard and Won't pay more than $10 or $15 for their service. I usually DL 1 or 2 songs from a group and then go buy the album If I like them. I'm waiting to see how many people start posting their mp3's on online storage bins with open access. Is that the next step???

well if they were smart they'd sell blocks of downloads also, for a cheap whole sale price.. They could work out the numbers. I don't work there so why should I?

$30/month beeing the price for unlimited downloads, how-ever.

I think napster is one of the coolest fucking things in the world. And if they start charging, so be it.. i sure as hell wouldn't mind paying the 9.95-30.00$ or whatever they are going to ask per month. i mean it's just so simple.. ya hear something u like on the radio, just hop on napster, download it in about a minute and you're done.. compared to heading over to music land and paying 3.95$ for a cd single! Yea, sure the artists are getting ripped off right now, and i guess charging for the services is needed. well that was my 2 cents

So, if i want to burn MP3's, I cant use a CD-RW? Unless I only play the CD's back on a CD-RW, correct?

What would I need to burn songs then?

                                                                  what can i say i'm a mp3 junky!

When i read about the whole deal with mp3 portables back in the day. I had to get one before the god damn IRAA banned those too . Good thing that never happened. As far as i am concerned, those record labes are WAY to greedy! And if they would open their eyes they'd realise they have a world wide meduim they can exploit for advertisment of their albums. But no, people are too damned simple minded.

CD-RW can't just be read by other CD-RW drives. There are tons of regular CD Drives that can read CD-RW. Our DVD player can even read VCD's burned on a CD-RW. every CD Player in our house (even our old Sony portable) can read CD-RW. Although I do know that alot of drives and players can't.

I suggest buying a CD-RW, and one blank RW disc, and testing it out in your drives and players. if it doesn't work in your players, then big deal, just use CD-R's next time.

I read that if the record companies settle, the subscription price to Napster would run around $5 a month. In order for this business model to work (so they can pay the record companies their $1 billion over 5 years) 1:20 people would need to subscribe. @ $5 I sure as hell would jump on. But with a serious lack of other people to trade with, would it still be worth it?

It's sad that now the RIAA is going after the Open Napster servers. I was wondering whether or not it would still be possible to connect to the Open Napster servers once Napster is shut down. Sure, you only need to use Napigator to connect to these other servers, but if Napster needs to connect to its own servers upon start up, that'll easily allow them to shut the client down or cause it to hang if the company needs to shut down due to a lack of settlement.

Yep, can you imagine that when Diamond came out with the very first MP3 player, the RIAA actually took them to court to keep it from hitting the streets? They actually succeed too, but the ruling was later overturned. Damn greedy bastards. Shouldn't be so surprised, figuring that artists only get like 50 cents for a CD anyway.

It's nice because i can set up different dir's for each type of music i have. But i still get lost in 1500 mp3's. I usually have it on shuffle about 99.9% of the time. I've had it for 2 months, and i think i've heard the same song maybe 2 times.

RIAA won't get very far with taking down napster servers. Here is how i see it, napster servers will go underground, and on your common warez site you'll find lists of napster servers. Nuthing will change.

As far as content goes, the record labels could hit 2 birds with one stone. Like i said, they should put their own servers on the napster service with their own secure files. Would help prevent MASS ? problems and they could get solid #'s on how many downloads are happening. But i am just a webmaster, i don't know shit.. LMAO. I should be getting paid $200k/year to think for these old schoolers.
