Usually what I do is sign up for email sites and then as soon as the emails start showing up, I report them as spam. It's a great time killer.

One thing I really like about Spam Cop is their aggressive stance toward hosts that allow spammers to abuse their system. I only wish they'd turn the heat up a bit on some of these guys but hey, they are doing what they can.

The problem with Spam Cop is simple.

If someone buys an email list, then signs up to get my spam and resends it to all on the list it looks like I did it.

Spamcop do not find out any proof of who sent it they just wade in. Timifoto had a perfectly good site closed down just that way.

Maybe someone should take Spam Cop and spam out there site on a bought in list to show them how easy it is to do.

i never have heard of a legit double opt in list being canned by spamcop.Were you takeing care of your removes?

I've been avoiding creation of my own double opt-in list because of spam filters. More concerned about brightmail and AOL's ridiculous filter than spamcop though.

well with aol you can get whitelisted so your mails come through.With the filters you just have to accept the fact the a lot of your mail will wind up in the bulk folder

their just assholes, destroying the freedom of the internet, they actuly complained 3500 times to my isp because i said that julian was a fuckhed in his forum, and my isp canned me, after talking to my isp and showing them my proof they turned my account back on and offered me a dedicated mail server on their network for $30/month so that way if spamcop bitches they can handle it and fuck them up

this aint over, i got a suprise very soon, i like how kazaa can spread things so fast =)

well your best bet is to have something in your mailer program that will be able to track the spam complaints by putting stuff in the headers, since spamcop does not give you the email of the person who complained.

Oh if you are good you can dig the complainers email addy out. I get emails from ISP's telling me the spammer has been taken care of and they are sorry. Most spammers are not the sharpest knife in the drawer

I do double-opt in mailings all the time and have never had a problem with spamcop, because its a legitimate mailing list and they are basically good guys.

By the way if you sell an email list you are probably a spammer. I've never seen an opt-in list on the net with big bold letters that says "By the way, after you signup here I will sell your name 250 times and spam you with everything from casino crap to girls with farm animals."

Furthermore, I use SPamPal which checks (besides Spews, etc.) Spamcop and have never seen a false positive from them.

They are great.

You can use some way to encrypt email addresses with each mailing so you know who has spamcom enabled (the emails will be in the spamcop reports) and then you can put them in a global remove list so they never get mailed again.

PowerMailer has this feature built in.
