My wife is getting bullshit at me for making porn websites! I told her I was in it for the money! She says I wont make any $$$..
I explained to her about sponsors & such..She dont think I could make $$$ with xxx sites!
Please post an answer to how much $$$ you make per month as a xxx webmaster!!

I also told her that it would be a fulltime job, that I'd have to work 8 hours a day to maintain sites & traffic etc..she bitches at me for spending so much time on computer...Tell me, was I right..or should I only spend 1 day a week working on my sites, etc..

I assume you are relatively new at this if you are asking this question so....

Assume you work 12 hours a day for the next 6 months. By the sixth month you should be making 500 to 1,000 bucks a month.

Now assume that the following six months you work 12 hours a day and at the end of that period you should be making 1 or 2k a month.

Working one day a week will net you 5 or 10 bucks a month.

These numbers are of course pulled from thin air and mean nothing but my point is that this business takes a LONG time to figure out and a LOT of work EVERY day. There is no quick or easy ride anymore. Get out while you still can !!!!

Actually, Yeah I'm new to this board, but as far as being a newbie webmaster, on the contrary, I've been a webmaster for over 2 years now!....I just want to go full time 40 hours a week and work at home to make my dough rather than go the regular job routine..I just need to convince my wife that in the end it'll pay off!!!
And yes I'm damn serious..It appears that few of the above replys arent so serious themselves!!! If all these webmasters arent making $$$ then why does every one do it!!

Im making around $50 to $150 a month right now with only 8 hours a week work, so I figure if i do 8 hours a day, I should make more $$$..

Ive only been doing it a little over 2 years. During that time, Ive see more people try and quit than actually make it.

If ya work hard and network well, you can catch on quite easily.

I do it fulltime, but it took a while for me to figure out what works for me. There are people that can make money almost right away doing it and people that will never make money at it no matter how long and hard they try.

You need to be able to get traffic to your site(s) and you have to make more off of that than you do on content and bandwidth.

If you can't do that now part time - there is no reason to believe you will be able to full-time. I know some adult webmasters who make some serious cash. I think - on average, most people lose money.

Most important of all, if you are looking for any real advice - disregard everything you read on this board.

I see things on TV with the Internet Toolkit and what not - what a joke. Many people think if you put up a few sites that you will make money. I tried to talk this one woman out of spending money on a lease at an "internet mall".

My advice - don't quit your dayjob until you can see a profit that you can scale up. If you can make a PROFIT doing TGPs (I don't, but some do) one day a week - figure out what it would cost you for bandwidth and content to do it 7 days a week. You should be able to figure out if you would make a profit, even if you are not now.

If you don't know what you are going to do that day to make money, don't quit your job. I have a plan, and so do most people that make a profit.

To answer your question as to why people do it if they aren't making money:

1) Some people are under 18 and have no need for income - this is a hobby/business for them. You will find many children on this board.

2) Some hate their job and want to give it a try.

3) Some think it will be easy money.

4) Some do actually make money doing it.

To me it is the perfect job. I love it. I don't do the normal TGP/FreeSite stuff to make money, but have used those techniques. I can work my ass off at three in the morning if I want - or do nothing the next day if I have somewhere to go.

I have no employees - and no real boss. I probably "work" more than 40 hours a week, but it doesn't seem like work. I know of no other job in the world where I can make $35-40 per sale of a $2.95-$4.95 trial. As far as expenses go - they are very low for a small business. If I have one bad month - I still will be ok.

don't let others influence you on your business decisions at all when it comes to internet. Why? Because most probably you'll be more familiar on the subject than them. But again if you want to be serious on ANY business you're gonna work alone you must not set 8hours/day schedule, but tasks that must be completed. Work smart and hard and you'll do better than many people can imagine.

No doubt.... if you think 8 hours a day is gonna do it.... forget it. I push 18 - 20 hours here and if I didn't pass out with my face on the fucking keyboard every night for a few hours, I'd probably get more done.

always remember your family first and going full time is a VERY BIG STEP,,

if you do choose you need to at least save 6 months of income just in case something goes wrong and you have enough liquid money,,


just keep it as a hobby man,, don't plan on making 20k a month anytime soon

On The contrary..It's only the adult sites netting 150 month..
I have pretty much mastered webmastering 101 as far as mainstream goes..I got some mainstream sites that get pretty good traffic, I've won awards, & I am a member of alot of organizations & groups..Like, The international association of webmasters & designers!
As far as design & getting traffic goes..I dont have any problem with that..
And as far as making $$ goes, I just need to convince my wife that If I increase the amount of time I do it, I'll make alot more!!!

I even get some people around town to pay me to design their sites..
