I was wondering which search engines you guys submit your freesites to. Also how much traffic can you get to your sites from the search engines on average. I have a site that is listed at dmoz and so far AOL and google has picked up my site, but i only get about 20-30 hits a day from AOL and only 4 hits so far from google.

How many hits can a medium size freesite(1 warning+1 mainpag+3 galls of 20 pics) get from SE per day?

Just submit by hand as those auto submitters can get you banned. Besides there aren't that many se's that are worth submitting too.

The first and most important seach directory you need to submit your site to is DMOZ. If you get listed there, you will get picked up by all the others eventually.

3Xguru i guess people don't wannna share their tips and knowledge about this. I'll look into it myself the next couple of days and let you know what I find out.

titmowse when you say link trade, do you mean with other small freesites and is it for traffic or is it to get better placement in the SE's?

DO NOT bother submitting to search engines. I have #1 listings on Google for some fairly decent terms (teen sex, lesbian sex, porno...).

Trust me - it will do you no good. 99% of the information out there is wrong. You have to do RESEARCH. That is the only way. Anyone who sells a program (except for research) or tells you to put this or that in your meta tags has no clue what they are talking about.

Programs do not work and haven't worked for sometime - if you get a good listing off of one of them - you were lucky. You can no longer "pagejack" and expect to have any good listings.

The only way is to learn, read, and study. There is no quick fix. I NEVER submit to any of the major search engines. It is a waste of time. Some engines will penalize you for it - Google does not, but it won't help you either.

Some of the forums have good info, but people in general do not know what they are doing. I know people who are "Search Engine Experts" who do things wrong. You must have a long term plan. I spend about 10 - 20 hours a week on research.

Anyone who has done SERIOUS research and wants to get together at vegas - let me know...

Many thing the only reason Google even has a submit box is so that those that are looking for it don't write and ask for it. It is useless to submit, but they will not penalize you for it.

That just about sums it up. Its taken me over a year to get anywhere near decent SE traffic and thats through working with a group of people following strict rules and having a partner who knows the subject. If you can imagine just how many adult submits SE's get each day you will understand why they are for ever changing reject rules. Bombing SE's each day with new pages or variations on the same domain is just a total waste of time. There are only a limited number of worth while postions in the popular phrase/word regions. As for software like WP Gold - its great for Bobby's home page or the Acme Cat Litter Co

It seems that SE traffic is so valuable that people writting on this thread are trying to limit the competition by telling others how hard...allmost impossible it is to get it.
If anione wants to know more about SE traffic, don't go to searchengineforums.com.
It will take you forever to understend how to get it and how it works best.
Just do like did: search on GFY for SE traffic and read about 30-40 relevant messages! That should get you started!
