How much can this cheap server handle?

Hi,

I know someone who wants to take a server.
He gets this server:

10 domains IP
- Sun Microsystems Sparc 10 Server 128 mb ram
- High Speed SCSI 2 gig drive
- Solaris 2.5.1
- Apache HTTPD installed

How much K can this server handle? He will do most tgp gallerie posting...

What kind of pipe will it be sitting on?

Ram is Low, but if you configure Apache "Act as Proxy server", you can handle very high traffic!

You can do it with Webmin (I think)

Hi I asked the guy. He will get 8MBPS or so...He thinks he wil get 500K a day.Can he handle that?

Never can he handle 500k with such a machine. Just because it's a SUN doesn't mean it doesn't need any RAM.. and 128MB is too low. In fact, especially SUN machines with Solaris need a lot of RAM to work properly.

Correction 256 MB ram now But any idea how much traffic thismachine can handle with 8MBPS?

I guess the question that I would ask is why do you want to try to earn your living with a server that is using technology that is several years old, even if it was FREE ?? For around $1000 you can get a server that will handle 500K unq without even getting winded, and if your really serious you can get a Dual Piii 1Ghz or a P4 2Ghz with 3GB ram and dual 100GB drives with 8mb cache for around $2000. Is that really too much of an investment if your wanting to make 3k to 10k a month with your adult business ????

I guess it's a SPARC Ultra 10 so it's most likely a 300mhz CPU.
