    Networking gurus, help!

    Here's my problem,

I bought a linksys wireless router (BEFW11S4 802.11b), 3 computers are connected by cable to the router, one using the wireless connection (for a total of 4 computers). I was having problems with ICQ, FTP and downloads disconnecting so I downloaded firmware and flashed it.

Ever since I flashed it all the LED lights are flashing, I can't connect to 192.168.1.1 to configure the router, and I can't reset the bitch.

    Any ideas?

hold the reset button for ... i dont remember .. 10 seconds? or something like that. That should reset it as long as you did not corrupt the ROM.

Yeah, doing that doesn't reset it.. how the hell would I have corrupted the ROM? LOL, sometimes I hate technology.

When you flash the bios you are writing to ROM. You might have to go in with the USB connection and reflash it with an older bios to make sure the ROM is ok

how did you corrupt it? did you update the rom from the wireless connection ? ... If you did and some packets got bad in the TFTP transfer... poor you :|

did you try to reflash it ? did you try to ping 192.168.1.1 to see if the router still answers?

that doesn't apply for the BEFW11S4 .. there is not USB connection on this one, the only mean is by network.

I didn't update it from a wireless connection and it completely finished upgrading.

When I ping it the request times out.

I'm still able to access internet, and the wired network, but when I try to access the computer that is wireless it doesn't connect.

so you can't access the router, maybe you reset it and IP pool changed... try to ping something like.. 192.168.0.1 ... second of all make sure you still have an IP 192.168.1.* or something...

last thing, from your computer do:

                    Win98: traceroute gofuckyourself.com -d
                    Win2000&XP: tracert gofuckyourself.com -d

check the first ip that comes out, that should be your router.

you're still hooked up to the router and you can go on the net.... thats weeeeiiiiiirdd... btw, did you try to reset it holding the button 10 seconds like I said? ... If you did... eh... you get me clueless there. There might be still an option tho. go on network-tools.com .... in the text input field down there you will see your public ip address... try to put it in your browser's address... might work if you checked enable remote management... if not... you might have to contact linksys

Yeah, I tried holding reset for 10 seconds, it didn't do anything.

This is fucked, how do I create problems like this? LOL!

And unfortunately I didn't check remote management...
