    Hardware problem.

Yesterday i bought an all in one printer. ( http://products.hp-at-home.com/serie...275c04d91a0211 )

I run Windoze ME (biggest mistake ever) and the damn thing won't install the new hardware. When i connect the printer to my usb port and turn it on, Win ME starts looking for new hardware and freezes.

Anybody any idea what i can do? I tried in safe mode but that doesnt help either.

    Cheers.

And, of course, you have usb enabled in the BIOS setup.

Have you installed the software for the printer? It's looking for it if you haven't.... (and I agree... you should be flogged for using ME)

                  Sorry, i was sleeping
                  Thx for the replies.
Yes i installed the software first and then connected the machine. Same shit. I tried it vice versa, so first connect without software installed, didnt work either.

I have usb setup in the bios since i used my usb port with other hardware before without problems.

No i WONT get a mac, those thing are terrible execpt for graphical use.

Is the usb connection plugged directly into your PC or via a hub?

                    Try direct into the PC.

                      bauttus:

I bought that exact same HP All-in-One back in September ! You will be very happy with it !!!

I run Win2K Professional, and it installed very easy ... I wouldn't make Bin Laden use ME ... It's just not right

Good luck with it Bro ... it will be the best $$$ you have spent on your PC in some time ... I use mine like crazy ... had to refill the color cartridge 3 times already !!

If you use HP Photo Paper and print pictures, you cannot tell the difference from a photo lab ... even if you make 8 X 10s

Get a copy of Win2K professional, and put yourself out of your misery ... you will not regret it !! Wait until at least SP1 to come out before using XP though ...

Spankstrocko, its directly plugged in the puter.

Hungryman, i agree, what i tested so far looked very neat, i think its a great machine. But right now im stuck to Win ME and i just cant get it fixed. I'll have to contact HP i guess.
