When I try to format my d:/ in DOS mode,
it starts, then it's going to registrate the
damaged files, but when it gets to 79% it
just stops.. what can I do?

When I try to 'defrag' my hard drive, it always get's interrupted halfway. I found out that if you have your screen saver on or you monitor energy saving features on, (you know, things that activate after a certain amount of time) it can get interrupted.

So try tuning all those things off first.

Maybe the partition is fucked. Run Partition Magic on your drive.

Just as an aside regarding the defragging comment, I find that restarting the computer in safe mode first is the best way to get that done without interruptions. Unfortunately this comment doesn't help the person who was trying to format their hard drive.
