It's not surprising to me that the tracker seems to follow the Mason-Dixon. It's all about destroying adult entertainment through unbelievably high barriers of entry. I am glad to see states resisting; it seems like wealthy states are spearheading that.

Something needs to be done to solidify (1) the rights of adult peoples to view the content they wish to view, (2) ensure that parents are responsible for their children, and (3) allow businesses to conduct business and find ways to help #1 and #2.

I develop software that protects members areas through two-factor login authentication, so naturally I reached out to a handful of age verification services for integration. Mainstream prices are crazy high. I was quoted $1-3 per verification, and that's with a volume discount. My idea was to do the verification on login, once per account, but that was nixed. Three merchant account reps said their orders were to verify on every tour visit tied to a session.

It's much simpler to block these states on this tracker with MaxMind. It took the host an hour or so to implement for one of my clients.

It should be argued in the Spring 2025.

Other than the few cases in Texas, I am not aware of any other cases being brought against adult sites either by AGs or private plaintiffs in any other state, though I could be wrong.

The Texas case arguments were heard at supreme court the other day with decision due in July I believe

The Supreme Court on Wednesday was divided over a challenge to a Texas law that requires pornography sites to verify the age of their users before providing access. Last year a federal appeals court in New Orleans allowed the state to enforce the law, holding that it was rationally related to the government’s interest in preventing young people from viewing porn.
