PC power button not working??

My PC is starting to have trouble turning on when the power button is pressed. I noticed it a few days ago. I had to press the button like twice. Today I had to press it 4 times before it finally turned on. I'm just going to leave it running because I got a design job to do and I'll be fuked if I can't turn it on...

Does anyone know what usually causes it? It's like 8 years old... I have to upgrade to a new PC soon.. but I've always been putting it off because this one is still doing everything I needed it to do.

ya 3 power components if the motherboard is good. switch, power supply, cable. try replacing the cable first. they are really cheap and you probably have one from an old printer or monitor. my desktop burns thru power cables about every 6 months. great power grid here lol.

keeping it on without fixing it might make it fail at a bad time. save often

Try looking around for obvious things first. Is your power cable inserted and snug?

The power switch probably has some dust in it. Try blowing it out. If you have can of compressed air used for electroincs, use that instead.

If you are handy and have the parts, try swapping out the power supply next or even better, just take it to your local PC shop and have them fix it. Parts are cheap AF these days.

I never power off my PC, I only put it to sleep and all I do is press my mouse or keyboard and it turns back on
