If an affiliate program stopped converting

would you give up on the site you are running?

Upto how many months would you wait, before you give up?

I am burning through Data Transfers, im getting hits but sales stopped for 4 months now.

What would you do with this site?

After four months I would be looking elsewhere. I have seen programs go bad over night and had to move traffic.

Well of course, why the fuck would you send clicks to anything that doesn't generate the most revenue?

Depends on how much work you need to keep putting into it? If its not converting and maybe still getting SE or whatever.. just leave it alone and move on

But if its actively losing money yeah might as well stop.. if its just one site among others on a server I would leave it be and check in on it again after a while if I don't forget.. but most likely years later of spending money on the domain go wtf why do I still have this site running lol

It's probable that your traffic source has been utilized previously, and updating your offer could be crucial unless you consistently attract entirely new visitors daily. People tend to reach a saturation point and seek alternative content elsewhere.

An important point to note is that Affiliate Sponsors are your competitors as well. They closely monitor their affiliates' performance and might actively try to outperform you.

I worked at a few big ones behind the screens, not public, so I know what I am talking about! Trusting a sponsor, no matter how amicable they appear, isn't advisable. They're not your friend, especially since most of the time they aren't even webmasters like you or me.

So, when someone suggests, "Contact your sponsor, discuss your traffic sources, and have them check..." - don't do it! Instead, take a shortcut and REPLACE the offer! Plenty of sponsors you can work with and keep on offering new products to keep it "fresh"

I agree 100% with this post BUT would add (of course) that I am not one of the Sponsors he mentioned. I AM a webmaster and I am focusing on Affiliates in 2024. I am not a big company, just one hard working webmaster with some outsourced help. So, for me, trying to 'outperform' Addiliates would be stupid.

Right. When I was an affiliate manager, I got paid more money when my affiliates under me earned more, and I didn't really talk with the sponsor about what the affiliates and I talk about. The big affiliates already know what to do, they aren't going to talk with some random affiliate manager about their sources, they know better. Ones that do will benefit both the affiliate and the sponsor since most of the time that happens when someone is starting out.

Anyways, there are always tricks that the sponsor can do without needing to outperform anyone, like how Brazzers sends emails to expired trial accounts with offers so good that you can't promote them as an affiliate..

You are fully aware that you align with the positive aspects of the industry. I have consistently emphasized this in our conversations. Additionally, your role as a webmaster serves as evidence supporting my assertion that you have respected affiliates from the very beginning. Your understanding stems from recognizing the challenges involved in cultivating a devoted following.

Certainly, one practice involves upselling within member areas, a well-known tactic in the industry. Another issue pertains to footer links on offers that lead to "unintended" (ahum) link leaks. AWE serves as a clear instance with plugin links under your label (ClubEliteChat). I noticed one such occurrence last month. It's one of those practices that I find disagreeable.

If you can diversify your offers, I think that is always a plus. Is there any reason this would be hard to do with your site?

Sometimes a sponsor can have useful suggestions on ways to improve conversions, but, if it converted before, and you are not doing anything different, it is likely either (a) the sponsor or most likely (b) you are not getting new eyeballs and most of your old eyeballs who were going to buy that offer already did.

I say all this, but the cybermike plan of wtf am I still paying for this site is sometimes my methodology, unfortunately.

Always risky to build sites dedicated to one certain paysite. At least build a site around some niche where you can promote more programs/sites.
