    Why doesn't chmod work?

In my FTP prog, I go through the process of chmod, and it seems to be fine, but it doesn't change anything.

I'm not getting any error messages, it just doesn't seem to change anything.

    Anyone ever experience this?
I post on GFY so that when people ask me what I do,
I can tell them that I work with the mentally retarded.

uhm, do you have permissions to be chmod'ing?

Telnet in and give it a whirl.

I assume you know CHMOD does nothing on a Windows server. Are you using WS_FTP? WS_FTP has some problems refreshing directories. The permissions will get changed but they won't get updated in the file list.

The Microsoft Windows Server 2003 family helps organizations do more with less. Every day you're asked to make your infrastructure more efficient, keep everyone productive, deliver more applications. And do all this faster, more securely, and at lower cost. Now you can.

            from m$'s site. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH!

that sounds like one of those good "ice-breaker" jokes for lame parties!

If you can login the shell you can see easily what's going on.

Never ever use Telnet, use SSH, SSH2

                        As in yours?

It must hurt after a while.
