Alternative to Google Analytics 4

I am not a big fan of GA4 and I am looking for an alternative to track my traffic and create campaign ID just like GA.
Paid of free, it doesn't matter.
I know there was a thread about it 6 months or so ago but I cannot put my hands on it.
(The GFY search function is no help.)

It's ancient and I would not recommend it, but your hosting provider may have already installed it for you.

I'm curious to know what's wrong with Google Analytics v4.

Anyway, I have a client with paysite, OF and varous socials who doesn't like GA4 as well. Since she is russian I switched her website and socials to Yandex Metrica which seems to work quite good both in russian and english web interface.

Maybe it could work for your needs too.

i love plausible, easy integration with wordpress. but if you are paying for the sass version, it can get expensive, if you have lots of traffic, ive been asked to upgrade each time. im on the 2 million package now, i started off at the lowest.

If you reffering to matomo(ex piwik) , that is indeed true, i remember i had to ditch it always for some reason(it was either too much space or slowing down page). So when it comes to self hosted, i think it's better to code something simple and stupid and use it. Another option is to use trade script as alternative counter which is not powerful as matomo/ga/etc but it gives you data which you need. Also, anyone remember TALS, which was click counter ?

That's true, but it's easy to just download old data off of your server then delete it. If you need historical data you can view it locally.

Yup matomo also has an option you can set to delete old data every X amount of days, I have it set to delete old data every 6 months
