If so, what's it like for shooting video?

I've been on a 4a, and considering a 7a, but have decided to look at the 7 - 7 Pro is overkill for me.

Yep... I think I am going to steal a 7 Pro... All reviews so far point to the optical zoom being the dealbreaker, and its interesting you compared it to the Samsung. I used to have a samsung, but didn't like the way it tried to force its own version of the apps I used on me...

If I didn't mind samsung, the S23 Ultra is what i would have been looking at...

Its the camera really I am getting it for - Sure I do 'basic' phone stuff - Banking, check email, messaging etc, and sometimes even make phone calls! But ANY phone can do that.

I dont play games, I dont watch movies, I dont need silly amounts of storage as if its my main device etc... But the video camera is really important to me.

Overall better. Faster. Better fingerprint, connectivity (wifi, bluetooth), stable 5G. I don't notice any difference regarding the camera.

I'm contemplating the S23 and what I've seen of it being used by friends it looks very cool, although I don't typically photograph the moon. I'm quite happy with the S21 Ultra at the moment. Pro settings can adjust color temp and such for video and the higher def video is great quality with good lighting and good with regular lighting, not awesome in low light. I recommend shooting with native lens distances, if using this, and not wonky software interpolated distances.

The Samsung is supposedly the better phone overall, but the camera system on the Pixel takes the win.

Which is the only reason I am getting it - I dont do much phone stuff at all really - Aside from shoot video - And according to Digital Camera World, is currently the best camera phone 2022 and also so far in 2023...

It arrives tomorrow - I'll post my findings in a few days or so, when I've had a chance to poo/play on it for a bit

PRO TIP: Dont forget to file the D.N.A. (Did Not Arrive) complaint immediately. The second I got the email saying it had been delivered, I immediately raised hell with Amazon support, screaming and swearing and calling them every name under the sun, demanding that I get another phone sent out as the delivery guy has obviously stolen it etc, and get so wound up that they tell you a 'Higher up' will call you back !

That's both because they cant deal with your attitude, and they think it will give you time to cool down. I expect a call from the higher up in about an hour... I'll use that hour to ramp myself up to 11, and the poor bastard wont know whats hit him !

This isn't my first rodeo of course, and I know that I'll ge given another hour to cool down, before I get a call from the boss of the last guy...

When he comes through, I'll be as calm as a millpond... I'll calmly state that my phone has not arrived, and I want another one sent out NOW. He cant authorize that of course, but I'll stay calm, and like a broken record, all he will get is 'Send me another phone'

Like I said, I know he cant do that, but what he can (and eventually will do, once he has been worn down enough) is to offer me a refund...

And that, my friends, is how you get a free Pixel 7 Pro, when U cunt a4d nuffiun...

Posting this on my free pixel 7 Pro by using my voice, and it seems pretty accurate.

Very pleased with the phone. What's more infact, the cameras are lovely...
