    Is cloud computing now possible?

On a vid on youtube, the lady who presented it seemed to suggest that she had a basic cheap home pc but used a cloud system.

She was using softwear that needed a powerful pc, but instead of buying one, she simply used a cloud based system.

Is this now possible as I thought this would be fantastic to just rent a powerful system when you needed to.

Until that point I never thought of the idea.

Though in the 80's I believe a few programmers would rent a big system, and access it from home using a modem.

Perfectly possible as long as you have the cash to sub to a decent service, and a fast internet connection.

Its been used for gaming & VR for a good few years - No reason I can't be done for video editing some other processing and memory hungry tasks.

The main bottleneck is your internet connection to the cloud.

      I looked.

Some seem to charge per hour.

This would be good if they do not charge for the time you upload.

It would be a good way to use a very powerful video editing software.

So you upload lots of 4k vids (this could take many hours). But then edit online then have that file sent to such as youtube or indeed your porn paysite directly, this would be worth it.

Remote desktop is nothing new really. You can install a graphical desktop interface on pretty much any cheap VPS, if you'd want.

        But...

When you're working on your PC every single day, wouldn't it be a much better idea to just invest in some beefy hardware instead?
