If your server fully down, meaning , unresponsive to any kind of connection, then you need to contact your host first. Tho, there is a option in case server is having remote UTP connection where you can connect to server even when it's offline but very little hosting companies offer such option.

Have you considered a fully managed server, so you don't have to stress over finding an admin? At M3 we have around-the-clock admins to ensure 99.99% uptime.

Usually there is an option to change the BOOT IN RESCUE MODE

but you also need to know what your doing (mount, chroot, etc...).


If rescue mode is not working (no ping) it's because there is a hardware problem

you need to create a ticket for a support request and just in case have backups !


When you've entry level dedicated server (10-15€) always have backups on local computer or another server

because support could tell you : "We'll give you another server but not possible for doing a recovery"
